چکیده
Outcrops are routinely used for research and education purposes, a key component of geoscientific training. Fundamentally, re-evaluation outcrop observations reproducibility results is critical scientific advancement. Accessibility to the field outcrops, however, remain problematic several technical societal reasons. Advances in application digital models geoscience training have seen significant rise recent years due technological innovation user-friendly workflows. Herein we discuss necessity digitally capture outcrops preserve them natural landscapes that shaped Geosciences. Examples reflect sedimentological concept technique advances, only possible with presented. Digitally preserved outcrops’ role as milieus increased accessibility, inclusivity, discussed. The time has never been more appropriate, tools accessible, promote open inclusive environment research, education,

Digital Preservation through Digital Sustainability
The concept of digital sustainability introduces a holistic approach on how to maximize the benefits of digital resources for our society. The nine basic conditions for digital sustainability also provide a contribution to potential solutions to the challenges of digital preservation. Elaborateness, transparent structures, semantic data, distributed location, an open licensing regime, shared ta...
متن کاملOutcrop fracture characterization on suppositional planes cutting through digital outcrop models (DOMs)
Conventional fracture data collection methods are usually implemented on planar surfaces or assuming they are planar; these methods may introduce sampling errors on uneven outcrop surfaces. Consequently, data collected on limited types of outcrop surfaces (mainly bedding surfaces) may not be a sufficient representation of fracture network characteristic in outcrops. Recent development of techni...
متن کاملDesign for Inclusivity: Assessing the Accessibility of Everyday Products
The older adult population in most developed countries is growing slowly, but continuously (Laslett, 1996). Several functional changes occur with age which may result in a decrease of perceptual, cognitive and motor skills (Smith et al., 2000). In spite of this well-known trend, designers continue to design instinctively for “ablebodied” young people (Coleman, 1997). The result is products that...
متن کاملAccessibility and conservation
Bacterial small RNAs (sRNAs) are a class of structural RNAs that often regulate mRNA targets via post-transcriptional base pair interactions. We determined features that discriminate functional from non-functional interactions and assessed the influence of these features on genome-wide target predictions. For this purpose, we compiled a set of 71 experimentally verified sRNA-target pairs from E...
متن کاملConservation of endangered animals: From biotechnologies to digital preservation
In the recent years, the number of endangered animals, both referred to livestock and wild species, has grown enormously. The “livestock” term refers to animals domesticated for producing commodities for man such as food, fiber and draught. Livestock biodiversity is integral to our culture, history, environment, and economy. Thousands of livestock breeds have evolved over time to suit particula...
